Two "Impression" shows, compared
Impression West Lake vs. Impression Liu Sanjie: what's actually different
Both are large-scale outdoor Chinese "Impression" productions — but staged in different cities, with very different moods.

| Impression West Lake | Impression Liu Sanjie | |
|---|---|---|
| City | Hangzhou | Yangshuo, near Guilin |
| Setting | West Lake, willow and lotus scenery | The Li River, karst-mountain backdrop |
| Mood | Softer, misty on-water ballet | Big-scale, mountain-night spectacle |
Same series, different lakes and rivers
Both shows belong to China's "Impression" series of large-format outdoor performances staged on real water using the natural landscape as the set — but West Lake's Hangzhou setting and Liu Sanjie's Li River/karst setting are visually and geographically distinct productions.
Which one should you book?
If your itinerary takes in Hangzhou, Impression West Lake is the natural, convenient pick. If your trip also passes through Guilin/Yangshuo, the two shows are different enough in tone and scale to be worth seeing both rather than treating one as a substitute for the other.
